Description

"It would be years later when Sulien would once again have to tangle with Lake Reisa,
but this time, it was not his own life in danger- though he hadn't understood that at the time of course-
but the life of a young sooty orphan, who'd drifted perhaps too far out on a piece of wood, only for the wood to finally sink.

He hadn't considered what he was doing when he dove in after the pup,
finding himself suddenly struggling against high tide with the sodden whelp in his jaws.
The pup didn't stop screaming its terror until well after they'd reached the safety of the shoreline,
and finally fell asleep to Sulien's begrudging attention and grooming."

The Passage of Courtship
